The best of Sicilian cheese-making tradition
The Sicilians is born from the experience of Bio-oil, founded by the will of Giuseppe (Pippo) Messina. A genuine story that has its roots in a small artisan workshop in Gibellina, in the Belice Valley, in the province of Trapani, where cheeses purchased from local producers were aged and packaged.

Our commitment green
“Always mindful of resources, we work every day to optimise and reduce consumption, adopting measures and technologies that allow us to lessen our impact on the land. Because resources are not inexhaustible and we must protect them.”
Water is a very important resource for the dairy sector and is fundamental to our production. To maintain high quality standards, its consumption cannot be reduced through recycling, which would carry risks of contamination.
Biopek adopts solutions to optimise its use:
Condensate recovery,
Preheating of water with recovered condensate.,
Use of pressure washers,
Use of trigger-operated spray guns.
We have 150 kW of photovoltaic systems installed at our plant for self-consumption. All available roof surfaces and part of a south-facing facade have been covered. The annual electricity production is 215,000 kWh. This allows for significant energy savings and a reduction in the environmental impact of the finished product's production cycle, with a saving of 114,000 kg of CO2 emissions per year.
Recycling
The disposal of recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, glass, and plastic is carried out through municipal collection.
Disposal of specific waste
Correct disposal of polluting waste and conscious management of by-products: residual whey is allocated to livestock farms as feed, creating a virtuous and sustainable cycle.
Sustainable packaging
We minimise the use of plastic in packaging, favouring solutions with a lower environmental impact while respecting food safety regulations.
